Dr Anna Forbes
Chair

Anna is a Registrar in Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthesia, most recently working at King’s College Hospital, London. She is currently a Flight Doctor with Essex and Herts Air Ambulance. She has long standing interests in both research and Pre Hospital Emergency Medicine and is excited to be able to combine the two with PHOTON. In her spare time she enjoys exercise, making things and spending time with her family.

Dolly McPherson
Dolly is an Advanced Clinical Practitioner at the University Hospital Southampton and a Specialist Paramedic (Critical care) with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. She is a Foundation degree paramedic who has completed her MSc in Advanced Practice. It was through these studies that she developed a passion for research and writing, a passion that she hopes to bring back to the pre-hospital field. She has previous publications in the Journal of Paramedic Practice and Standby CPD with a special interest in emergency care of the older person and major trauma in the older person. It is her aim to add to the evidence base that currently inspires paramedic practice whilst learning from it herself.

Neil Flowers
I believe strongly in the Faculty of Pre-hospital Care as a leading organisation for supporting and developing PHEM as a sub-speciality. I am a Level 8 Consultant in Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine and an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. As an advisor for the committee, I would like to continue to develop and support the faculty and help inspire and motivate allied health professionals to undertake research and audit. I am an honorary associate professor at the University of East Anglia.

Dr Chris Simpson
Chris is an ST5 dual trainee in EM and ICM. He is also undertaking PHEM subspecialty training with Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex. Chris graduated in 2012 and has maintained a strong research interested starting from undergraduate and an academic foundation program, through to most recently publishing a paper looking at PHEM management of penetrating neck injuries. Outside of work he spends most of his time walking/running with his dog!

Dr Lisa Ramage
Lisa is an ST6 Emergency Medicine Trainee in the North East and Central London Deanery. She has a PHEM training position in the East of England. Lisa graduated in 2008, and has maintained a research interest throughout her medical career, including undertaking a formal 2 year research period which led to a MDres in the field of general surgery. After leaving general surgical training behind in order to pursue her dream career in Emergency Medicine and PHEM, Lisa has maintained her research interest, undertaking a number of projects in pre-hospital clinical research and publishing a paper regarding the London-based Physician Response Unit, where she recently spent 14 months as a clinical fellow. Outside of work, she spends time with her children, in addition to the cats/dog/horse and her husband.

Dr Nick Haslam
Nick is an Anaesthetic trainee based in North East London currently undertaking PHEM subspecialty training with Air Ambulance Charity Kent, Surrey & Sussex. Nick graduated in 2012 and has a long standing interest in pre-hospital research. Initial interest focused on high altitude medicine & research expeditions. Subsequent interest in UK trauma and critical care transfer led to work with TARN and most recently development of key performance indicators for adult critical care transfer services. Outside of work he enjoys planning his next skiing trip!

Dr Caroline Leech
Consultant Advisor

Caroline is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at University Hospital Coventry and the Deputy Clinical Lead of The Air Ambulance Service. She is the West Midlands Training Programme Director for PHEM, Associate Editor for the Emergency Medicine Journal, and an Executive Committee Member and Examiner for the Faculty of Pre-hospital Care, RCSEd. Caroline leads on both in-hospital and pre-hospital research in her local organisations.

Dr Gov Oliver
Gov is a PHEM trainee with The Air Ambulance Service. He recently completed his Emergency Medicine training in the North West. He has a strong academic interest and completed a Master of Research degree during his NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship alongside his own research work. He is excited to be a part of PHOTON. In his spare time he enjoys trail running, wild swimming and spending time with his family.

Mike Hughes
Mike is a general surgical registrar in Yorkshire with a subspecialty interest in major trauma. His pre hospital experience comes through volunteering with his local mountain rescue team in Scarborough as well a working as a HEMS doctor for Lincs and Notts air ambulance.
